What is the difference between the FG signal and RD signal of the cooling fan
FG signal (also known as flywheel signal) and RD signal (also known as rotor positioning signal) are two types of signals related to motor operation, which have different characteristics and purposes.
The FG signal is a signal generated by the flywheel of the motor, which is usually a pulse signal with a frequency proportional to the speed of the motor. This signal can be used to measure the speed of the motor by monitoring the frequency of the FG signal. Usually expressed in revolutions per minute (RPM).
The RD signal is the signal generated by the Rotary Position Sensor. The main function of this signal is to detect the rotor position of the motor, usually achieved through the use of Hall sensors or photoelectric sensors. The frequency of the RD signal is usually a multiple of the number of pole pairs of the rotor, which can be used to determine the rotor position and operating status of the motor.
To use the FG signal to achieve a locked rotor alarm, the following steps can be taken:
1. Obtain FG signal: Ensure correct connection to the flywheel of the motor and obtain FG signal. Sensors or interface circuits can be used to detect and extract FG signals.
2. Set speed threshold: Determine an appropriate speed threshold based on the design specifications or application requirements of the motor, which can be used to determine whether the motor is locked.
3. Monitoring speed: Convert the real-time measurement of FG signal frequency into speed value, and use a counter or timer to measure the pulse number or pulse interval time of FG signal, and convert it into speed value.
4. Compare speed: Compare the measured speed value with the set speed threshold. If the measured speed value is lower than the set threshold, it indicates that the motor may be in a locked rotor state.
5. Trigger alarm: Once a locked rotor situation is detected, a locked rotor alarm can be triggered. The specific method of alarm can be selected according to the application requirements, such as issuing an audible alarm, sending alarm notifications, etc.
It should be noted that using FG signals for locked rotor alarm is not the only method, and other sensors or technologies can be combined to increase the reliability and accuracy of detection. In addition, the specific implementation methods and parameter settings may vary depending on factors such as motor type and application environment.
